Starting September 1, 2018, young people aged 13 to 17 can purchase a monthly transit pass for $52.00/month.
In December 2017, as part of the annual budget update process, Council approved a 22-month pilot that will provide youth ages 13-17 with a subsidized transit pass for $52 per month. This pilot will begin on September 1st. September pass sales for the new Youth Transit Pass opened across the community last week.
- Youth Transit Passes will be available for purchase at one of eight City locations OR one of two LTC locations. The attached document outlines the purchasing locations for the Youth Transit Pass, and provides a general overview about the program.
- To purchase a Youth Transit Pass, residents will need to visit one of the sales locations in person to purchase the initial youth pass. After the initial purchase, residents will be able to purchase the monthly Youth Transit pass online through the LTC website, or by visiting any of the ten locations around the city (see attached document for locations).
- Riders may be required to show their valid Secondary School ID card OR government-issued photo ID at the time of boarding.
- Student tickets will still be available for purchase (5 tickets for $7.70) at LTC locations and existing LTC vendor locations.
